Beautiful fabric

I love fabrics! Always have done. Will always sneak in to a charity shop to have a quick look for old pretty fabrics. There's just something about patterns, and texture and warmth and the possibilities.
When I'm home in Sweden I make sure I pop by the little factory outlet where Frösö Handtryck make their beautiful handprinted fabrics. It's only a 5 minute drive from my parents. I pick up fabric remnants, off cuts.
So, a few weeks ago I picked up some fabric bits, and one of the new ones, that I absolutely love, is this wonderful cat pattern designed by Karin Mannerstål, also famous from Swedish television.
The fabric is called Pappas Katt, 'Daddys Cat'.
I've got some tiny pieces of it in blue, pink and grey. I think I'll make some purses and bows.
I'll keep you posted. And SOON I'll get my etsy shop sorted! yay!

Surfing in the bath

Well, here I am. Back in the UK again. Landed safely last night after an 19 hour journey.

Right now I am quite literally surfing in our bath. By that I mean, that this is the only spot where we can get cheaky free internet. I am sitting on the edge of the bath tub with my laptop on the sink. All fine and dandy, but my bum is starting to ache.
Maybe I should squeeze in a comfy chair and a table in here?...

Ps. You know I said about riding my bicycle when back. I did that today. I got soaked.
That whole 'spring is here, it is lovely and warm and sunny', must have been a lie, a way to lure me back.
BBC weather forecast: Thursday-pouring rain, Friday-pouring rain, Saturday-pouring rain, Sunday-pouring rain.
Well, it is England after all.

Pps. Some trees are blossoming! And there are lots of daffodils about!

Sweet dreams peeps.

Goodbye snow Hello spring

Tomorrow I am leaving northern Sweden to go back to my home in the UK. This morning I woke up to surprisingly large amounts of new snow outside, and it's still snowing.
And tomorrow... I will be somewhere else. Without all the white. Maybe trees in bloom, and flowers perhaps. I will ride my bike.

Wednesday is National waffle day in Sweden. A welcome of spring. I doubt I'll find somewhere to get Swedish waffles but I'll think of the best waffles ever made by the best person ever. Grandma I miss you.

Spring, sprang, sprung

Still being in Sweden I am experiencing 'spring-winter' (vårvinter) with loads of snow - dripping, melting. The sun heating up my face, wrapped up in a heavy coat and wooly hat, sipping my coffee out of the flask. Dreaming of, looking forward to, brighter days.
My friend back in England sent me an email - the weather has been so nice - she's been wearing just a dress and a cardi. I'm going back there next week. I bet it's already blossoming now, been away for nearly 6 weeks. Spoke to another friend today, in Florida, she got warm days, she got a tan.

It all makes me think of this lovely painting, this is spring to me. And soon we will be able to fill our own pretty glasses with freshly picked spring.

A year ago I was in Amsterdam, experiencing Van Gogh's masterpieces in real life. Wow, that is something I tell you. The man accomplished so much in his short period as an artist. More here.

The word 'spring' in Swedish means 'run', maybe that's what spring is - running, picking up energy, running running, with the sun in our face, the trees and the plants filled with energy too, little blossoms springing out, saying 'hello world!'

Anyway, spring makes me smile and dream of warm winds on my cheeks.
